Yngwie Malmsteen's new album gets new Japanese release date
According to HMV Japan, guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen will release his new studio album in Japan on August 27. The LP's limited edition will feature the high-fidelity SHM-CD format (fully compatible with standard CD players) plus a bonus DVD containing interviews with Yngwie Malmsteen discussing the songs on the album and more.

Hammer Of The Gods festival cancelled
The organizers of this year's Hammer Of The Gods festival, which was scheduled to take place July 26 at Pabellones Multiusos La Peraleda in Toledo, Spain, have announced that the event has been cancelled. Refunds will be available at points of purchase starting today.
The following bands were slated to appear at the festival: BONFIRE, CENTINELA, DORO, DREAM EVIL, DULCAMARA, NOCTURNIA, RAVEN.

CRADLE OF FILTH announces title of new album
British extreme metallers CRADLE OF FILTH have set "Godspeed On The Devil's Thunder" as the title of their new album, due in October via Roadrunner Records.
The follow-up to 2006's "Thornography" is a 72-minute concept record about a legendary serial killer from the 15th Century, Gilles De Rais, a French nobleman who fought alongside Joan of Arc and accumulated great wealth before becoming a satanist, sexual deviant and a murderer.

HEARSE working on new album
HEARSE, the Swedish "death 'n' roll" band featuring former ARCH ENEMY singer Johan Liiva and ex-FURBOWL (plus plenty of hardcore/punk acts) drummer Max Thornell, are currently working on their 5th album, and the final recordings (vocals and guitars) are to take place in early September. There's no release date or album title so far.

URIAH HEEP to play in prison
Legendary British hard rock band URIAH HEEP will perform one of the most unusual shows of its illustrious career next week when it plays a free gig for the inmates of Rottenburg prison in Germany. Housed in a former castle, the prison will also act as the location for the German launch of URIAH HEEP's first new album in 10 years, "Wake The Sleeper".
The band will play for one hour in front of about 500 prisoners, and actually had declined to receive a concert fee.

Swedish crust punks WOLFBRIGADE has decided to cancel their U.S. tour, as there's no way that they can do the tour now that Sound Pollution Records has stopped their operations, and therefor can't pay the plane tickets for the band.
