Legendary anarcho punk act CRASS will be remastering and reissuing their back catalogue over the next few months. "Second Place Heroes" is a new book by author/musician Greg C.Pearson. It's a "Get In The Van" style book about the UK punk band Greg played for between 1998-2003 called MR.ZIPPY. A great story of some friends from a small town that fought upstream and did something that changed their lives. It features stories about and person input from many other punk musicians such as CAPDOWN, SNUFF, KING PRAWN, 4FT FINGERS, Mr.SHIRAZ, ADEQUATE 7, MU330, MUSTARD PLUG and more.. MR.ZIPPY never exactly took over the world but did get out of their small town and all round the country, to Scandinavia and even to Japan. Starting as a small band at school and going on to become professional recording artists playing to thousands, and how that affected their lives. It also touches on many other punk bands and just a whole celebration of the scene at the time and what they did with it - how they grew, and where they fell. A great read for anyone around at the time or a good guide for any new bands starting out.
