Sagan ![]() This is a Swedish punk/hardcore band that was around in the late '80s/early '90s. I found this demo at a record fair in the early '90s, and was told that it was very rare, and I have never seen it anywhere since then either. THE NUTS isen't among the most well-known bands from Sweden, so I will try to give some more information here. It all started with a band called NISSES NÖTTER (Nisse is a name, and nötter means nuts) as far as I know, but I'm not sure when that was, probebly in the early/mid-'80s I suppose. They came from Göteborg, and this demo, "Halloween", was recorded and mixed on February 20, 1987. This is not their strongest stuff actually. The "26 Hours" demo is even better! You can still get "26 Hours" from Delirium Tremens, but now on CD-R instead of cassette. And they made yet another demo, "Too Late", which is damned good too, even though it's a little heavier and softer. I guess that demo is pretty rare too, 'cus I've never seen it, I only have a copy of it. After that they became a pop punk band and did the split LP "Mellan Liv Och Död" with FÅGEL BLÅ (another really good band), which was really good. But after that they went really nuts (hehe) and did a LP with some kind of soft and lame indie rock before they more or less "dissapeared", except for a reunion gig in the mid'90s (where the photo is from, the only time I've seen them live). Still I'm Sad So you think you're too cool for The YARDBIRDS? Well, I guess it's time for Dr. Rock to teach you all a lesson in rock then.. This band existed in the mid/late-'60s and was the first guitar supergroup of rock. Some of the guitarists that's been in this band include Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page (who continued with a pretty well-known band called LED ZEPPELIN, and as you might know, they called themselves The NEW YARDBIRDS in the beginning). Their songs have been covered by THE NOMADS, Gary Moore, MOTÖRHEAD, RAINBOW and AEROSMITH, to name a few. Here's just a few of my favorites to tease you. So once you're hooked, do like me, go to the library and borrow a record with them (I found "The Yardbirds Ultimate!", a 2-CD with a fat booklet at the library). DOWNLOAD! SQUARE DRIVER: ? 6. SATOR: Turnpipe 7. SATOR: Hey Wire There was a report on Swedish national radio from Hultsfredsfestivalen (Sweden's biggest festival at this time) in the summer of 1991, and for some reason I was listening and recorded some of the better stuff. Unfortunately I can't remember the title of the ENTOMBED song, but I bet some fan out there take it at once. And I don't know the title of the song with SQUARE DRIVER, and have by the way never heared anything about them ever since. All songs are live from the festival, and the interview is in Swedish. Interview with their manager Olga Tjako (in English) 4. Brave New World (KRUIZ) KRUIZ was a heavy metal band from the Soviet Union (now Russia), who had been around for a long time already, and back in 1988 they was the biggest metal band in the Soviet Union. Rockbox was a Swedish hard rock- and metal show on Swedish national radio's P3. The interviews might not be so intresting, but the 2 songs are damned good! Sorry for the poor quality, it's been recorded from a 20 year old cassette directly to my computer, and that's the way I do it! DOWNLOAD! |
